Chicken by Bianca

WINNER of the Sydney Powerhouse makedo Making Competition.

Bianca walked away from the workshop convinced she was going to win. It seems the positive energy paid off - we agree. Her creation is made from a multitude of colours and materials all fastened together in such a neat package. Free standing on straw legs, this little Chicken is one character who delighted the makedo team.

Bird by Bea

This stunning little bird makes wonderful use of the shape of the found shoulder pad material. Using a mere three clips, all that defines a bird is captured with undeniable simplicity.

Danzigbot

Danzig was positively buzzing whilst creating his Bot. The Red Bull head and spikey straw hair fully express this energetic burst. We particularly love the silver skull detail.

Roverplane by Patric

What is not immediately obvious when looking at Roverplane is that when you squeeze the brown tube between the wings, they flap! Incredibly ingenious. See the video here.

Filipino Parol (star lantern)

This stunning star lantern came with a story about the traditions of Christmas decorations in the Phillipines. Making do is embedded in the Filipino culture and celebrated with incredible attention to detail in the creations made. We were honoured to be gifted this parol after the workshop.

Helicopter by Frank and Maximilian

Inspired by having the real thing suspended overhead in Turbine Hall, this helicopter is true to form. Add to that the simple colour palette and moveable propellers and you can see why we adore it.

Isaak Power costume

By the Power of Isaak! This costume is one of a kind, as every superhero costume should be. Complete with a super-soundtrack embedded in that laser deflecting chest shield.

Princess Castle by Sena

As though from a fairytale set in the hills around St Petersburg, this creation by Sena stood out. We only wish it were the scale model to a real building.

Christmas Tree Angel by Hilda

‘tis the time of year. We saw a number of angels go home to perch on a tree-top. Hilda got a lovely effect by overlapping orange mesh on silver card and using the clips as mesmerising blue eyes.

Freaky Monster by Mitchell

Before the workshop started, Mitchell insisted he was going to make something FREAKY. With unwavering commitment to his promise, he revealed what is without doubt the freakiest creation we have ever seen. Awesome!
